Silhouette Sarah Logo AnimationWelcome, I’m Silhouette Artist, Cutter and Entertainer, Silhouette Sarah (formally known as Sarah Goddard of Visage Silhouette Cutting) and this is my website.

I've been cutting silhouettes at prestigious events, weddings, and parties since 1999.

I’m one of only a handful of silhouette artists in the country, and I've been fortunate enough to perform this rare art form at events and parties across London, the UK and abroad for over 15 years

Silhouette Art has allowed me to cut silhouette portraits of many famous and interesting people, including Sports and TV personalities, film stars and Royalty.

Silhouette cutting involves the artist cutting a silhouette portrait in a matter of seconds using nothing more than scissors and paper. No drawing, photography, or second chances, once I start cutting there is no turning back!

On this site, you can find out what how a silhouette artist can entertain at your party, event, or wedding

I hope you find this site informative and interesting, and I'd love to hear your comments so please follow me on facebook:

Wedding Silhouettes in the Asylum

I was admitted to the Asylum for Silhouette cutting, not surprised where you.

However, I was surprised to find out that the asylum is a fantastic wedding venue. The Asylum Chappel in London is an amazing shabby chic venue.  This article in London Bride shows great pictures of the place.

It really fitted in with my Steam Punk Look and I loved it.

The Chappel is a grade II listed building that dates from 1826.  It has the whole distressed romantic look down to perfection and was truly beautiful.

The guests and wedding couple where great fun and the whole day was perfect.

Wedding Silhouette Art

A wedding magazine wanted my silhouettes.

I'm very excited to have been approached by Bride magazine to be a featured artist in one of their articles. They were putting an article together on vintage wedding ideas and thought my silhouette cutting would suit perfectly.

They had previously seen my work and wanted to put information about me into their article.  So I appear along with some other stunning wedding supplies such as wedding dress suppliers, true Blue, shoe suppliers Irregular (I love those shoes) and others.

I was picked as a vintage favour, in the article, as my silhouettes are hand cut on the day and presented to the guests in customisable mount cards.

It was fantastic to be mentioned and I'm very grateful to my friends over at bride for including me.

You can read the full article here.

Surprising Silhouette Entertainment

I love how surprised this lady was, about the whole silhouette cutting experience, at a recent event.

I really don't think she had any idea what was going to happen when she sat down.

Her face says it all I think.

Interview about Silhouette Artist and Silhouette Cutting on Radio Berkshire

As a silhouette Artist and Entertainer I was asked into the BBC Radio Berkshire studios to talk about my career as a silhouette artist and to talk about some of the interesting events, I have worked at.

I had a fantastic time and really enjoyed myself. While there I talked about what silhouette cutting is, how I became a Silhouette artist, and my work for Prince Charles and Princess Beatrice.

It's a long interview about 20 minutes in total, but I've supplied the edited recording along with some photos of silhouettes and silhouette cutting. Hope you find it interesting.

Also available on YouTube.

Silhouette Art of a Genius

One of the great things about being a silhouette artist is the fascinating folk I meet. I had the great fortune to meet and cut the silhouette of a truly remarkable person.

Steven Hawkins, a leading mathematician physicist and best-selling author was a guest speaker at a corporate event at a city bank I was entertaining at and he asked for a silhouette.

He was a lovely charming man and seemed very happy with my silhouette of him.  What do you think?

Silhouette Artist at Henley-On-Thames Craft Fair.

I recently had the honour of being invited to work at the Henley Craft and Design show, run by Craft in Focus (https://www.facebook.com/CraftInFocus).

They asked me to demonstrate the rare art of silhouette cutting, and to provide visitors to the fair with a free silhouette.

While working, a promotional team caught what I did on camera, and interviewed me.

Here is the result:

"Cosmic time cutting Silhouettes at Cosmo Event!"

I had a fantastic time silhouette cutting at the COSMO (Cosmopolitan magazine) Ultimate women of the year awards show and party.

No I wasn't nominated.  Yes I was surprised too :) I was there to entertain and amuse with my silhouette art.

It was held at one of my favourite venues the V&A museum in London and there were lots of cool and interesting people there. I really had great fun cutting silhouettes.

It was a very star studded affair hosted by Fern Cotton and Gary from Take That.

Unfortunately, I didn't manage to cut their silhouettes but I did manage to "cut" quite a few celebs, can you recognise them all?

Sometimes I really love my job as a Silhouette artist!

I even managed to get a name check on the Cosmo Website (although you need to look hard):

Silhouette Entertainment a Dogs Dinner

"Silhouette cutting works great at Charity event"

Sue Perkins and Silhouette SarahI  had the great fortune to work as a Silhouette artist at the Battersea dogs home charity dinner.

I was there to help drum up support for a charity that is very close to my heart.  My own dog came from Battersea.
Silhouette of Sue Perkins

I had a great evening and cut silhouettes of a host of donors and celebrities that had turned out to support the charity. Including the entertainer Sue Perkins.

It also gave me the opportunity to show that I can cut silhouettes of dogs as well as people and the silhouettes were used as table name cards.

Silhouette Artist at a Wedding - DIY SOS.

"Silhouettes of Enterners at a wedding"

Silhouette Sarah and Nick Knowles

DIY SOS - Does that stand for: Detailed Image of You - Silhouettes Of Stars? I was recently contacted by a BBC TV producer looking for an unusual entertainment for his wedding.

Silhouette Sarah and DIY SOS starHe had once worked on antique show where he had seen silhouettes inspired by this, like these here:

So he went hunting for a Silhouette Artist and found me.

The BBC producer is now working on DIY SOS so I was lucky enough to meet all the stars of the show and cut there silhouettes.

I've included two of the crews Silhouette Cuttings here.  See if you can guess who they are?  Did you get them? I hope you guessed Julian Perryman (right) and Nick Knowles (left).

Silhouette Cutting, on the Orient Express

Silhouette Cutting of guests profiles aboard the luxury Orient Express on Valentines day was a real treat for me.

This annual Valentines experience prides itself on having the highest standard of entertainment and they wanted to give the wonderful paper cuttings as unique gifts for the ladies on board the Orient Express.

This is why they have have opted for a silhouette artist for the last couple of years on Valentine's day and it looks likly to be an on going occurance.

This year I was lucky to meet some wonderful couples who were celebrating their wedding anniversaires, Birthdays, but the majority were ofcourse having a once in a life time treat on the day of love..... St. Valentines !

There were two circular trips, wonderful food, free roses and great scenery.

One of the couples were Holly Willoughby who presents Dancing on Ice on ITV.

Holly was really down to earth and loved her silhouette. I have written a comment on her website:
I was asked to only cut silhouettes of the ladies, I pressume that this is because the men get to the expereince of the steam train! I did do a couple of men by special request.

Silhouette cutting at Victorian Events

"Silhouette Artist for a Victorian Events."
Victorian themed events are all the rage at the moment, and silhouette cutting is an art form that people associate with this era which is making a comeback.
Silhouette Sarah in Victorian Costume
Silhouette Sarah in Victorian costume

I've been asked to entertain with silhouette art at a number of high-profile events recently (including a royal engagement) that all had a Victorian theme, and I must say Silhouette cutting is the perfect entertainment for such events.

I guess the Victorian theme is in vogue thanks to the likes of Heston going back to the Victorian age to create amazing feasts, such as this one

Other TV programs are also taking a look into the Victorian life and the Victorians certainly seemed to have had fascinating interests, which until now have almost all but been forgotten. Silhouette Art seems to very much fall into that category.

I have had the good fortune to work with some very talented people who are trying to keep the Victorian era alive.  One such Victorian group is the Victorian Society who do a great job of celebrating our history.

Silhouette Sarah holds the same philosophy, that you can create something marvellous and unique by travelling back in time.

Sarah is reinventing the forgotten art form such as silhouettes, by going to events and demonstrating this art form in a contemporary style with modern twists on traditional outfits and attractive displays.

This is why Sarah has got together some of the best Victorian themed entertainment to enhance your event at one of the many Victorian venues around Britain.

Silhouette Art at an Edwardian Event

Cutting Silhouettes for the National Trust.  On the 3rd of May (Bank holiday Monday), I will be entertaining with the rare art of silhouette cutting at Polesden Lacey in Dorking.

"Lavish house parties and discrete liaisons"

Once home to legendary Edwardian millionaires Lady Margaret Greville, Polesden Lacey was notorious for providing the backdrop for lavish house parties and discrete liaisons. These days this grand house is owned by the National Trust, who hosts slightly less wild but just as fun events.

I've already worked at this venue for their annual Valentines event which was a great success, and I'm very much looking forward to returning.

Silhouette Cutting fits in Perfectly with an Edwardian Theme

The National Trust seem to really love my silhouettes and think a silhouette artist is very in-keeping with the Edwardian style of the property. Well I can certainly see the likes of Elizabeth cutting silhouettes of her secret love Darcy.  (Sorry but I just love Pride & Prejudice).

It will be a great day for a picnic and there will be many Edwardian themed events in the house and grounds. To find out more visit: http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-vh/w-visits/w-findaplace/w-polesdenlacey.

If you come along be sure to visit me.

Silhouette of an Entertainer - A (Wayne) Sleep on the Train

After cutting Silhouettes at the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Association, where I meet Andy Murray (another story), I was on the train home, when I looked across at the gentleman in the seat opposite me. He look's familiar, I thought to myself, then I realised it was famous Ballet Dancer, Actor and Musical director, Wayne Sleep.

So I had to introduce myself and once I explained that I was a Silhouette Artist, he asked if I could cut his silhouette. So as a Ballet fan I jumped, or should I say 'grand jeté', at the chance.

Wayne Sleep with his Silhouette

He was an absolutely lovely man and a great subject. I think I captured his likeness very well, what do you think?:

It just goes to show, it's best to travel by train. I'd of never got a Sleep if I'd driven (sorry!).

Silhouette Entertainment - Working hard with Barbara Windsor

I was cutting Silhouettes at an event and had the great fortune to work with the entertainer Barbara Windsor this evening. A true professional and a entertainment legend.  She was so very kind to me.
